Why is my Share Ratio so important?

The Share Ratio indicator

From version 2.4.0.0 on, Azureus features a Share Ratio indicator next to the NAT and DHT indicators. It is red if your Total Share Ratio is < 0.5, yellow if it's < 0.9 and green if > 0.9. When you don't have NAT and DHT problems, it should look like this:

Info about the Share Ratio

Azureus > Tools > Statistics > Transfers

There you'll find the (Share) Ratio for This Session and below the Total (Share) Ratio, as being shown on the screenshot above. You should always make sure the Total Ratio is bigger than 1, simply by seeding the torrents after the download finished. You can easily automate that by setting good Ignore Rules in the Queue options.

You should aim for a Share Ratio bigger than 1 because otherwise, trackers could ban you because you are leeching, and there will be fewer good torrents out there.
